The Alliance for Nanomedical Technologies was established in 2001 partnering Cornell University, University of Rochester, Wadsworth Center (NYSDOH) and Tompkins Cortland Community College. The New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR), has awarded the Alliance $2.8 million over two years to establish this new Center for Advanced Technology (CAT). The Alliance for Nanomedical Technologies is a unique partnership that unites academia and the private-sector of New York State to develop the next generation of medical devices. It helps to nucleate and invest in research programs through its associated faculty and their private-sector affiliates with the goal of developing technology that will assist the growth of existing companies as well as be the genesis for new start-up companies. The Alliance also has established a core group of technical expertise and resources to move rapidly in addressing critical needs of the private-sector of New York State, leveraging the considerable intellectual resources of the academic community.
