Center (NBTC) to commercialize a suite of tools dealing with fluidics
at the nanoscale. ... NFI’s vision of single-molecule analysis
will propel the bioassay industry into a new regime. Contemporary
fluidics companies such as Caliper™ and Aclara™ have employed
fluidics at the microscale to reduce consumption of costly reagents
and decrease the size of components. NFI, in contrast, is
exploring critical dimensions more than 1,000 times smaller than these
forerunners in order to exploit fundamentally new behaviors
of biomolecules that emerge only in nanoscale structures. The new
behaviors can lead to previously unexpected abilities, some having
price and performance parameters 100 times better than established
products.
