Research Administration Information Services offers the following online sources to assist faculty and research staff in identifying sources of funding.

The University subscribes to to the Community of Science (COS) and the Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS), two Web-based resources for funding opportunities and alert services. For more information and instructions, go to the COS or IRIS page.

Researchers are also encouraged to utilize the grants.gov database, which is the single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies.

Cornell also has an institutional subscription to The Foundation Directory. The Directory provides access to information about public and private foundations in the U.S., including profiles and links to foundation Web sites.

Another searchable database is GrantsNet, which provides information on biomedical research and science education. It contains programs that offer training and research funding for graduate and medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty, as well as programs in science, math, engineering, and technology for undergraduate faculty and students.

Some sponsors limit the number of nominations or proposals that Cornell may submit to a particular program. These are described on the Limited Submission Competitions page.

Faculty and research staff are strongly encouraged to subscribe to the CU-RES-ADMIN-L listserv. The listserv is used to disseminate timely information such as limited submission competitions, updates to sponsor applications, rate changes, and training opportunities.
